Let’s try again, shall we…. After rain thwarted our plans last year, we are thrilled to once again be supporting this screening of Wes Anderson’s Oscar-nominated animation, in the beautiful surroundings of Cotteridge Park!

Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund this is a free screening.

The "doors open" from 6.30pm - bring a picnic and a blanket to sit on.

Even if it's warm when the film starts it will be chilly by the end, so bring blankets and jumpers!

The Secret Of Kells (PG) (Relaxed, Family-Friendly Screening)

Brendan is a young acolyte at an Irish monastery in medieval times. Under the threat of Viking raids, the Abbot is preoccupied with building a wall to safeguard the Abbey – but Brendan is more interested in the illuminated manuscript that Brother Aidan is creating, and goes in search of supplies for the Book in the dangerous forest beyond the walls.

”Brendan’s quest mixes absurd humour and adventure, naïve art and intricate detail, in a way that could seem haphazard or chaotic but which is rigorously thought out – even in the traumatic detail of a climactic Viking attack. The result is a story that will enchant children but also offer something fresh and exciting for adults” -
Empire

Join Stirchley Open Cinema for a relaxed family screening of this must see (Oscar-nominated!) animated classic.

Doors open at 2pm, film starts 2.30pm. Free hot drinks, fruit, snacks and colouring!

Woah
— -Keanu Reeves, always

A little while back, we put out a poll, on our socials, asking you to choose between SPEED and THE MATRIX., two quintessential Keanu films. The votes have now been counted (and re-counted several times because some of us actually thought Speed deserved to win but nevermind, we’re over it now) and Stirchley has spoken. Poor Things

Join us for the Oscar-winning Poor Things, and witness the fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter. Yes, it’s quite weird.

I must go punch that baby
— Bella Baxter

If you missed this bonkers, over-the-top masterpiece at the cinema (and somehow managed to miss Screen B14’s screening of it too) then you’re in luck! It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Yorgos Lanthimos film- It’s basically an insane fairy tale. And, according to Stephanie Zacharek of Time Magazine, Emma Stone’s performance is wonderful—vital, exploratory, almost lunar in its perfect oddness. Then again, Mick LaSalle at the Sanfrancisco Chronicle called it “a 141-minute mistake” but he owns a grey cat called Sandrine, named after the French actress Sandrine Bonnaire, so you can tell he’s pretentious.
